Joshua Davis is a seasoned folk musician and songwriter deeply rooted in the traditions of folk music, social movements, and a profound connection to the land. With a career spanning over two decades, Davis has released five award-winning solo albums along with numerous other projects as a band member, producer, and instrumentalist. His journey as a musician is marked not only by his solo endeavors but also by his role as an educator, having taught songwriting and guitar at Michigan State University’s Community Music School and conducted workshops and retreats at various prestigious events like the Swannanoa Gathering and Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Davis’s commitment to arts education is further exemplified through his co-founding of the arts education organization On Stage 4 Kids.
Davis’s national recognition was amplified by his participation in NBC’s “The Voice,” where he was a finalist in season 8, showcasing his unique blend of American roots, rock n’ roll, and vintage soul to a broader audience. His music career has allowed him the opportunity to share the stage with notable artists such as Sheryl Crow, The Indigo Girls, Adam Levine, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Pete Seeger, Greg Brown, and many others. Currently, Davis is dedicated to teaching at Interlochen Arts Academy as the Director of Popular Music and Instructor of Singer-Songwriting, nurturing the next generation of musicians with his rich experience and passion for folk music.
