Harold Zidler\, the club’s owner\, desperately tries to save the establishment by involving Satine with The Duke\, a wealthy man looking to own her. This arrangement complicates Satine’s relationship with Christian\, posing a significant obstacle to their love. Amidst the backdrop of a bankrupt nightclub\, the story explores the tensions of love\, desire\, and artistic integrity\, highlighting the Bohemian ideals of “truth”\, “beauty”\, “freedom”\, and “love”. \nThe musical showcases a pop score that includes music from various artists\, encompassing a range from The Rolling Stones to Beyoncé to David Bowie. This residency\, returning in 2024\, stands out as Lansing’s largest hip-hop and soul event\, blending live instrumentation\, spoken word\, DJ tributes reminiscent of the Soulquarian era\, and DJ sets that capture the essence of various music eras. Each event\, running from January to May 2024 on the first and third Saturday of each month\, promises an immersive experience with live performances\, themed dance parties\, food by Ruckus Ramen\, drinks\, arcade games\, and local vendors​​. \nThe March 2nd\, 2024 event will celebrate 2000s hip-hop and R&B\, inviting attendees to dance the night away to the decade’s hits\, spun by resident DJ Kaely Kellz from Detroit and special guest Sheefy McFly. The evening will also feature a Best 2000’s Fit Give-Away\, ensuring an engaging and interactive experience for all who attend. Tickets are available on a “Name Your Price” basis\, with the option to secure a spot online or pay at the door​​​​. \n“A Night at the Soul Lounge” is more than just a musical event; it’s a cultural celebration that emphasizes diversity\, artistic expression\, and community.
