Xavier Davis, born in 1971 in Grand Rapids, is a prominent American jazz pianist, composer, arranger, producer, and educator. He leads the Xavier Davis Trio and performs with the Christian McBride Big Band among other groups. Davis has an impressive educational background, having taught at the Juilliard School for six years before being appointed as an Associate Professor of Jazz Piano at Michigan State University in 2014. His talent was recognized early in his career when legendary vocalist Betty Carter selected him to work with her trio after his performance at the 1994 International Association of Jazz Educators convention in Boston. Throughout his career, Davis has performed and recorded with many jazz legends, including Freddie Hubbard and Tom Harrell, and has contributed to two Grammy-winning albums with the Christian McBride Big Band. Davis has also released two critically acclaimed albums as a bandleader, showcasing his expertise and creativity in jazz.
