Also known as Sick Nick, Nickie P. is a dynamic and multi-talented hip-hop artist from Ann Arbor. Her music journey is deeply rooted in her family’s musical background, with influences from various genres including classical, Broadway, and Italian Opera. However, it was hip-hop that captured her true passion, which she discovered at the age of 14. Nickie P’s brother, Kevin, a.k.a. Esque, from the hip-hop group Seven Chakraz, played a significant role in shaping her musical direction, introducing her to influential artists like Wu-Tang Clan, KRS-One, Mobb Deep, and early Eminem.

Nickie P’s music blends her rapping and singing talents, drawing comparisons to artists like Lauryn Hill. Her lyrical style and flow are a product of her diverse influences, which range from classic hip-hop to more modern artists like Atmosphere, Sa-Roc, and Brother Ali. Her career includes notable works like “The Triumphant Rise & Tragic Existence of Sick Nick” and the more recent EP “The Collective Thought,” which reflects her personal journey and experiences.

Her latest EP, “The Collective Thought,” is particularly personal, acting as a love letter to her creative process and significant people in her life, including her husband. Nickie P’s journey in music has been intertwined with her personal struggles, including battles with anxiety and depression, which have impacted her creative output.

Nickie P has performed at various venues across Michigan and Ohio, such as the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor and Mac’s Bar in Lansing, showcasing her skill in engaging live audiences. Her music is a mix of hip-hop and soul, influenced by a wide array of artists from different genres.
