Big Sherm, aka Mike Sherman, has carved out a niche as a producer, rapper, engineer, and DJ, with over a decade of involvement in the industry. Big Sherm is noted for his role as a longtime sound guy at Mac’s Bar and as a resident DJ at “Funk Night,” a weekly event that featuring a mix of live bands and DJs bringing diverse, danceable tunes to the audience​​.

Sherman’s musical journey began with a passion for electronic music and DJing, later expanding into hip-hop as a means of expression. Over the years, he has released a significant body of work, including over 31 mixtapes and projects as a rapper. His discography showcases a wide range of sounds, themes, and delivery styles, highlighting his versatility and willingness to experiment. Notably, Sherman has opened for renowned hip-hop artists such as Kuniva, Crooked I, One Be Lo, and Kool Keith.

As a producer, Big Sherm has put out 12 beat tapes under the “Secret Travels” series, characterized by its sample-based work that carries an eerie/mystical vibe, providing a unique foundation for emcees. His dedication to crafting original works without relying on samples, loops, or packs has allowed him to explore and create across genres, merging hip-hop with electronic and house music elements. This cross-genre expertise is also reflected in his DJ sets, where he blends funky house, deep house, funk, instrumental hip-hop, Mo-Town, disco, and reggae, maintaining an energetic and engaging atmosphere for his audience​​.
