Entransient is a progressive rock band from Grand Rapids. Formed in 2014, the band’s lineup includes Matt Schrauben (bass), Jeremy Hyde (drums), Nick Hagen (guitar), Doug Murry (guitar), and Scott Martin (vocals/keyboards). Known for their deep, emotive music, Entransient’s sound is a blend of progressive rock and metal, marked by multifaceted songwriting and rich soundscapes.

Their third full-length release, “Ghosts in the Halls,” showcases their skill in crafting music that resonates on darker wavelengths. The album explores themes of loss, fear, loneliness, and despair through beautifully sculpted music. Entransient’s music is recognized for its nuanced layering and subtle textures, with songs like “Parasite” and “Above The Stars” standing out for their cinematic quality and lyrical depth. The band’s ability to balance complexity with accessibility has drawn comparisons to bands like Porcupine Tree, with a touch of metal influence reminiscent of Green Carnation.

The lyrics in “Above The Stars” evoke feelings of otherworldliness and introspection, utilizing echoes and splashy cymbals to create a sense of space travel. Meanwhile, “Synergize” combines vibrant music with lyrics that critique corporate jargon, creating a thought-provoking juxtaposition.

Entransient’s music is not only a journey through sound but also a deep dive into the human experience, inviting listeners to explore the depths of their own emotions. Their work in “Ghosts in the Halls” has been praised for its excellent recording and mixing quality, offering a delightful listening experience, whether on streaming platforms or vinyl for an immersive analog experience
